Digital books and audiobooks are available via the Overdrive and Libby apps, which most libraries seem to have at this point in time. However, whether you attempt to loan physical books from the library, or obtain them via the Overdrive and Libby apps, you may have to place a hold and wait in line for the books to become available to you.

Unlike in the past, you don't need an entire room to store your library since you can listen to your books while doing almost anything. Thanks to audiobooks, you can store all the contents of your library on your computer, phone, tablet, or MP3 player and access them at any time you like. With audiobooks on cassette and CD, you can enjoy great stories performed by voices that bring characters to life.

While cassette tape and CD audiobooks carry the weight of storage by themselves, digital audiobooks can be saved to your computer via several different means. Here are the more common ways to save audiobooks on your computer.

The number of books you can store depends on the storage capacity of your e-reader and the length and file-size of the audiobooks. For those with e-readers or computers with large internal storage capacities, the number of books that can be stored is nearly unlimited. For those that want truly unlimited audiobooks, an internet-connected device equipped with cloud-storage offers more room than most e-readers that store their files internally. This kind of storage uses the internet to keep your files remotely on servers with a more extensive storage capacity.

Yeah same! I was in the middle of book 3. when I opened Spotify again there was some kind of error massage and the audiobooks + the podcast they were part of were all gone! I really want to know what happened..

Since the inception of the Harry Potter series, the stories have also been released as audiobooks. In the United Kingdom, the audiobooks were narrated by Stephen Fry, with Jim Dale handling the narration for the U.S. editions. The audiobooks were released in both CD and cassette formats, though the cassette editions are no longer in print due to the general lack of demand for titles in this format. For the earlier books in the series, there was generally a delay between the release of the print and audio editions.[3] The later editions generally saw the audio copies being released the same day as the print editions, likely a result of the growing popularity of the series. Most recently the books were made available in the first ever online audio editions through Pottermore via the Pottermore Shop and were also made available to libraries for lending.

Podcasts and audiobooks are great to listen to on a long car journey. Check out the list of suggested podcasts and audiobooks within this article that ranges from true crime to history and family-friendly to pop culture.

Thanks for this list! Our family loves audiobooks too. Our favorite is the A Long Way from Chicago series by Richard Peck. We listen to them on our long road trip every Thanksgiving. Gone Away Lake is the perfect summer book! I had a recent post on my blog with some of our other favorites. -audiobooks-your-whole-family-will.html

Check with your library for audiobook rentals. They may have discs at the library, but most libraries also have an on-line library of e-books and audiobooks that can be downloaded (though they do expire after a certain amount of time)

My daughter is 8, loves both reading and audiobooks. She listens to audiobooks all day long while she is working on chores, playing, or being creative. Some of her favorites that she goes back to over and over again are:
