Convert Any Machine to VMware with VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 6.3.0 - Download Now

We are needing to p2v a windows 2003 server. In order to do that we need Converter Standalone 6.0 due to compatibility issues. However, 6.2 appears to be the only version available for download on the VMware site. Is 6.0 still available anywhere?Any help would be much appreciated.

Not so true that someone had to go to "warez", apart from the no longer available "VMware converter" on the market there are some alternatives (even free of charge). AFAIK "Starwind Converter" is one of them, then it all depends on what you want to achieve.

To say, in my past I have used vmware converter to migrate virtual machines to migrate virtual machines from host to host when vmotion was not effectively usable (for various reasons, eg. lack of the required license). Then I used a feature of "VEEAM BAckup and replication" called "Quick Migration".

Does anyone know an good alternative place to download VMware Vcenter converter standalone 6.0? I have an issue that is best solved using that version after research but it seems VMware has removed it from their website. I haven't been able to find it online anywhere let alone from a safe resource. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Freeware programs can be downloaded used free of charge and without any time limitations. Freeware products can be used free of charge for both personal and professional (commercial use).

This license is commonly used for video games and it allows users to download and play the game for free. Basically, a product is offered Free to Play (Freemium) and the user can decide if he wants to pay the money (Premium) for additional features, services, virtual or physical goods that expand the functionality of the game. In some cases, ads may be show to the users.

This software is no longer available for the download. This could be due to the program being discontinued, having a security issue or for other reasons.

From what I gather from the release notes of 6.0, it doesn't support Ubuntu 10.10 anymore, right? 5.5 only supports 10.10 LSV, so that leaves me with 5.0 ir 5.1. However, for the life of me I can not find anywhere to download these versions. Can anybody please tell me where I can find them? Thank you.

If you need an older version of this converter (to take advantage of features that have, for example, been removed in the meantime), use an archived version of the VMware download links.Note that VMware's digital signature on these files indicates that they are indeed official files and that they have not been modified.

Offering unsupported products based on legacy technology presents potential security and reliability risks to our customers. The last release of vCenter Converter occurred in May 2018, and its support officially ended in December 2019. While we understand some customers may want to use this tool, the risks reached a level where we had no choice but to remove it from the download site.

As per the statement, VMware updated that work on the new version of vCenter Converter is already in progress. Alternatively, you could try other free third-party converter tools like Starwind V2V Converter and Veeam Backup & replication to convert the virtual machines to supported virtualization formats.

If you are an existing vCenter Converter beta participant, you can head over to the vCenter Converter Beta Community -Converter/ct-p/5385 to download the latest release. If you wish to join the Beta program, simply register for free at _REG.html

Recently, the latest release was VMware Converter Standalone 6.2, released in 2018. In February 2022, VMware removed this version of Converter from the list of available downloads on its website (significant vulnerabilities were found in previous versions) and promised to release a new version a little later. At the same time, no alternative for performing P2V conversions was offered.

And finally, on October 11, 2022, the new version of vCenter Converter 6.3 became available for download. This version supports the new Windows Server 2019/2022 and Windows 11. However, older versions prior to Windows Server 2012, RHEL/CentOS 6, and Ubuntu 14 are no longer supported.

  • VMware Converter connects to the specified server and installs VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Agent (vmware-converter-agent) on it;

  • Then you will be prompted to specify the name of the ESXi server (or vCenter server), on which the virtual machine will be created, and the credentials to connect;

  • Select the datacenter, cluster, ESXi host, and VMFS datastore name where you want to place the new virtual machine. Select VM hardware version;

  • Then you will need to select the disks of the target system to be copied, RAM and vCPU settings, etc.

VMware Converter: Synchronize changes when performing P2V or V2V ConversionVMware Converter allows to synchronize changes between the source computer and the target virtual machine located on the ESXi host. This feature allows you to virtualize a physical server with a large amount of data on physical disks in several stages with minimal downtime.

Once the VMware converter has completed, disable all of the networks adapters on the physical server and shut down. Disabling the network adapters will avoid potential IP conflicts if you will start the physical server back into Windows after you have your new virtual server running.

In VMware ESXi navigate to your virtual machine in the tree on the left.Choose Actions->Export.This will download disk images and information about your virtual machine in the .ovf format in the browser.Move those files to a storage that is accessible by your Proxmox VE host.

VMware Converter (VMware standalone converter), now known as VMware vCenter converter Standalone, is a tool used in VMware vSphere environments to convert physical and virtual machines to VMware virtual machines, using the VMware Converter for P2V process. You can also use VMware Converter to perform V2V (virtual to virtual) conversions to convert virtual machines running in one type of virtual environment to another virtual machine. For the purposes of the post, we will refer to it simply as VMware Converter.

This CD or ISO is no longer made available in the latest versions of VMware Converter. An alternative to running a Cold-Clone of a server or workstation with database applications is stopping all the database services and ensuring all critical services are quiesced before running a hot migration of the powered-on workload. If you have an old workload, circa Windows Server 2003, you can still find the old VMware Cold-Clone CD floating around the web for download.

Different VMware converter ports are required for communication, depending on the conversion of a Windows or Linux host. Also, compared to the ports required for vmware converter p2v, V2V operations require fewer ports.

StarWind V2V Converter / P2V Migrator is a free software for cloning and transforming VMs from one format to another, as well as converting physical machines into virtual ones. It is utilized when migration or Hypervisor Switch is required. Compared to the typical converters built into hypervisors, StarWind V2V Converter / P2V Migrator offers bi-directional conversion between all the major VM formats: VMDK, VHD/VHDX (Windows Repair Mode aware), QCOW2, and StarWind native IMG.

StarWind V2V Converter has numerous competitive gains over converters built into your standard hypervisors. First, it supports bi-directional VM conversion between various hypervisor vendor formats. To save time during migration and Hypervisor Switch, V2V Converter allows to convert VMs directly from one hypervisor server to another without creating an extra VM disk copy. On top of that, you can easily migrate your vital host VM images between different hypervisor servers without any data loss or corruption. Want to convert local files? V2V can do that, too.

StarWind V2V Converter / P2V Migrator is free software, without any hidden payments, additional required licenses, or timebombs. In other words, there are no strings attached, V2V Converter / P2V Migrator is best-qualified for immediate download and use.

Note: Login to your account and navigate to the XenServer downloads page. For customers who are eligibile, the Citrix XenServer Conversion Manager is available to download from the Enterprise Edition page.

Hello, I am having the same problem. Purchased the new 2010 True Image Home and the Plus pack both of which claim to allow P2V migration but there is no documentation at all that describes how. I also tried the VMware converter to no avail. I wonder if this isn't product misrepresentation if no one has figured out how to do this and Acronis remains silent on the matter.

I saw this thread when checking on solutions for converting .TIB to VMware virtual disk using the VMware Converter Standalone software 4.0.1 and just wanted to post a note to say that True Image Home 11 .TIB images are recognised correctly by the converter though an image from TIH 2010 was rejected as being unrecognised.

Update to the above, yes VMware Converter recognises a TIH 11 .TIB image correctly, but the resulting converted .VMDK machine doesn't boot in VMware Server 2, so there seems to be something in the image construct that converter doesn't cope with correctly.

I guess I could dig out my copy of TIH 9 and create a TIB image with that to prove that the above press release is telling the truth about converter but in the end I just installed converter on the physical machine I was trying to virtualise and did it direct, bypassing the need for an image file.

I have the same problem. I have a *.tib image made from Acronis True Image 9.1 with universal restore. The VMware converter comes with the message: The source virtual machine is not recognized. I have the latest VMware converter version 4.0.1 build-161434. Also the latest VMware Player (version 3.0.1. build 227600) cannot use or convert the *.tib image.
